TaxisThere are two types of taxis available in Chandigarh – Airconditioned Dial-up Cabs and Tourist Taxis. The air-conditioned cabs are available round the clock and the charges are Rs.15 for the first kilometre and Rs.12 per kilometre after that. The cabs are fitted with electronic meters and you get a printed bill from the driver. Tourist taxis are available both at the Station and the Airport as well as taxi stands in various sectors in the city. Rates are negotiable. AutorickshawsStation: If you would like to hire an autorickshaw, there is a Prepaid Booth supervised by the Chandigarh Police as you exit from the Station near the Parking Lot. The following table gives an indicative fare to some important locations:
Luggage charges: No luggage charges up to 20 Kgs.; above 20 Kgs. : Rs.2 per article. Airport: Autorickshaws are available outside the Terminal building. Bus: CTU Buses are available from 6.25 am till 9.25 pm from the station and the bus stop is at the railway station exit point. There is also an airconditioned CTU bus service available from the station.The route (No. 203) is as follows: Manimajra, Railway Station to ISBT 17 via Transport Chowk, Markets of Sector 28, 27, 19, 18 to ISBT 17. The frequency is every 45 minutes from 7.25 am to 5.10 pm. Airport: Airconditioned buses of CTU are available at the Airport. Route No. 201 goes from the Airport to PGI via Tribune, road dividing Sectors 32 and 30, Sectors 33 and 20, Sectors 31 and 21, Aroma, Road dividing sectors 17 and 22, Sector 16, PGI and University. Buses leave every 50 minutes from 7.25 am to 5.25 pm Hop on Hop off Tourist Coach: This open roof double decker tourist coach moves in a circular route covering all the major tourist spots in the city. The Coach starts from outside Hotel Shivalikview, Sector17. Onward journey: Planning to travel further to other towns in Punjab, Haryana, HP or any other State? Your options are to take a Taxi or a Bus. Taxi: From the Taxi Stand outside the Station and Airport, you can hire a Taxi. Charges depend on which type of car, number of days etc. Inter State Bus Service: Buses are available from the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Sector 17 or the ISBT in Sector 43. You can reach the ISBT by taking a taxi or an autorickshaw or a CTU Bus. From Sector 17, buses towards Delhi depart while buses to Punjab and HP leave from Sector 43. Buses of Punjab Roadways are available from 2.30 am till 11 pm. The last bus for Ludhiana is at 9 pm, Amritsar at 11 pm and for Patiala at 9 pm Himachal Pradesh Road Transport buses for Shimla, Rohru, Rampur Bushaher, Hamirpur, Dharamshala, Mandi are available round-the-clock.
